Pre & Post Surgery
Hair transplant surgery is a procedure that involves the harvesting of hair follicles from a donor area on the scalp, after which the hair follicles are transplanted into the recipient area where hair loss has occurred. Although it is a surgical procedure, it is minimally invasive with a relatively quick recovery period.
Before the procedure commences, the area on the scalp will be completely anesthetised by doing nerve blocks and field blocks, ensuring no pain is felt during the procedure. Scalp anaesthesia is maintained throughout the hair transplant procedure, ensuring a comfortable and pain-free experience for the patient.
Will You Experience Pain Post-Surgery?
Pain is minimal after a hair transplant. There will be slight discomfort and soreness as well as some numbness post-surgery for the first couple of hours. Pain medication is prescribed for use during the recovery phase and mostly used on an as needed basis during the first 2 to 3 days after surgery.
The tiny incisions made in the recipient area where the hair follicles are transplanted heal within 5 to 7 days and the small circular dots left on the donor area heal within 7 days.
We have a Post-Op instruction Booklet that covers all the questions patients may have after their surgery. However, patients are encouraged to call us directly should they have any questions.
